Housegroup
Ideas and Resources for Use
in Groups
Here
are some ideas for how each session may be planned, based on the four Ws that we
having recently been looking at:
Welcome
– to make everyone feel welcome.
It could include
- notices, asking
about people who aren’t at the meeting.
- asking first question from the question sheet.
- asking a question from the ‘Ice-breakers’ list.
Worship
– to bring people close to God through focussing on Him.
It could include
- a tape or CD of a hymn or other music,.
- reading a hymn, a psalm or a few Bible verses, or anything else appropriate.
- could end with a prayer to lead into the ‘Word’ study.
A useful resource for small group worship is the series
'The Resource for Small Group Worship' devised by Chris Bowater. This contains
music and a CD for singing and meditation along with other worship ideas. It is
published by Kevin Mayhew and there are a number to choose from. ISBN 184003 511

Word
– application of the word of God to our lives today.
Study based on the
questions provided. The focus is to be on the application of God’s word in our
lives.
Witness
- ministry and prayer.
Pray for each other
and for people we want to pray about.
Pray about how we can put the study into action.
Keep a list of people we are praying for. Introduce the prayer time. Share needs
of ourselves or others. Remember to give thanks.
End the session with a prayer or The Grace.
